THEN NOW

Crystal w/ Unicorns, Pigeon Hill, 1989

"Home was hell—mom drinking all the time, people running in and out. I couldn’t live with my dad because my step-mom didn’t like me—she was jealous. They started drinking and fighting over me so I went back to my mom’s. I gave up because of my family—I just stayed in my bedroom. I really raised myself."

Crystal w/ Angels, Pigeon Hill, 2014

I take care of my mom at the nursing home—she has Alzheimer’s. My dad lives here with us. He’s had a heart attack but all he wants to do is sit around and drink. It’s like he’s given up on life. My life is better now—I’m not living in hell any more. I started collecting angels since my daughter was born. They’re like guardians, they watch over you.
